As long as I can remember, I have been intrigued by design and art. My mother is an artist, and I always wanted to be, but I just never had that amazing artistic ability. After my son was born, I needed something that I could work on and have “me time”. My mother-in-law convinced me to start a blog. I finally gave in after years of my MIL, Mother, and friends begging me to start one. I started Beautiful Imperfection to write about family stuff and vent about the everyday frustrations of being a wife and mother. It didn’t take me long to figure out that there wasn’t a design that was perfect out there. So my wonderful mother-in-law said a few little words that have started this journey I am on. “Cari, design it yourself!”
Something clicked at this point. I started asking her how to do things (she is an amazing graphic designer), googling tutorials, and diving into my memories of web publishing class. My Mother heard what I was doing and said “Its about time!” My husband has been a constant source of encouragement, and my son gives me unending inspiration.
One of my other long time obsessions has been brands. I love the science behind branding and advertisement. I have taken sociology and psychology courses that have only fed into this obsession. Branding is an art, and when it is done right, it can insure a company’s success. When it is done wrong, it can set them on the road to failure.
Naturally, my next step was logo design. I love creating logos and studying classic logos. I put all the knowledge I have gathered over the years into my logo designs. I do not stop a design until my client is completely happy with the outcome.
This is an amazing journey I am on, and I am so thankful to my family for their constant support and encouragement.
